ABOUT US

SEPCA Foundation was founded as an NGO by Paul Bwiruke Bizimana, Chris Theobald and Sergio Echeverría to address the issues of poverty and lack of employment opportunities in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Through an established network comprising local officials, NGO representatives, business people and on-the-ground volunteers, SEPCA Foundation coordinates projects, consultation and small commerce based initiatives in the Congo.

Paul Bwiruke Bizimana
Founder Head of Finance an Program Implementation

Congolese citizen from the North Kivu province who has worked as a teacher for five years, as a humanitarian and as the finance director for Virunga Foundation in Virunga National Park. He has witnessed the effects of war in the region and seen the desperation of the local people. Through SEPCA Foundation, he hopes to fulfil his dream of rebuilding the hope of the vulnerable, poverty-stricken communities through empowering projects.


Founder Media and Communications Manager

a board rider, adventurer, conservationist & outdoor guide. He is from Australia, calls Patagonia, Chile, his home but his heart is in the DR Congo. Before co-founding Sepca Foundation he helped open & managed a Safari camp deep in Virunga National Park in the DRC. It was here he employed, worked with & fell in love with his brothers & sisters of the the Congo.

Sergio Echeverría
Founder

Lorem ipsum..Mexican – Chilean, alpinist, rock climber, adventurer and mountain guide, has spent much of his life in nature trying to live in harmony with his environment. His skills as a guide and mountaineer have allowed him to develop his abilities in high mountains, rock walls and long distances, as well as to access remote places and to experience the life of these incredible places. His practice as a Zen monk have led him to a deepened and raised awareness about the world around him on his adventures – not simply climbing mountains, but conquering “mountains” helping to create a better future.

Vivienne Winborne
Australian Operations Manager

Viv has worked in marketing and brand management in Australia for over ten years, in the not-for-profit sector, the wholesale industry and the education industry. Managed international brands like Jamie Oliver and Animal Planet. She is driven, creative and determined to always do better. She is well-travelled, is passionate about equality and believes that everybody can make a positive impact on the world. As a parent she is excited to make a difference with SEPCA Foundation assisting the Congolese people to provide an income for their families and a better life for their children.

Christian Horton
Project Manager

Christian Horton is from the United Kingdom and is passionate about animal and human rights. Well-travelled he has worked with primates in an animal shelter in Ecuador. He looked after poverty stricken children in an orphanage in Peru, providing them with care, education and nutritious food. He currently works with young asylum seekers from troubled countries. Since travelling to Africa a few years ago he has wanted to make a difference to African people’s lives and is excited to do so through SEPCA Foundation

Janek Seevaratnam
Strategy Consultant

Janek has spent his career trying to build a better future for people and planet. His work began in grassroots organisations in South America and West Africa with a particular focus on education. For the last 10 years he has been in London advising charities, companies and foundations on how to have a bigger impact. Janek is a big believer in collective action and the power of people to make a positive difference, which is why he jumped at the chance to join the SECPA Foundation team in 2021.

Katya Katondolo Emmanuel
consultant field communications/ web developer

Katya is our Congolese on the ground photographer. He is a passionate part of the team already travelling great distances with supplies & aid for our Volcano eruption displaced families. He is a Hip Hip artist, committed humanitarian & father. He worked as the on sight producer for the Oscar Nominated Netflix “Virunga”. A lover of his people he practices living in harmony. He is a fearless fighter always striving to empower his people in DRC

Baisenge Ndinande Salomon
Field Communications and Project Manager

Salomon has worked for many years in the most bio-diverse National Park in Africa, Virunga National Park. He worked for our co-founder, Chris Theobald, in Lulimbi Safari camp and moved up to assistant camp manager. He is passionate about his Congolese community and its people. He grew up in a refugee camp, so he knows his people’s struggles firsthand. Salomon has taken pride through Sepca Foundation, administering aid to the victims, and displaced people from the 2021 Goma Volcano eruption. We are proud to have him as part of our team

An Colyn
Customer Support

An Colyn is a passionate traveller and photographer. After travelling to Africa for the first time, she fell in love with the nature, wildlife and its people. She has been travelling to Africa at least twice a year to her second home in the DRC in the city of Goma. There, she is actively involved in several charity activities. She has worked with Gorilla conservation projects and has now found a passion for goodwill and started working for SEPCA Foundation. She loves the African culture and is proud to support it, empowering the people and its nature

Yves Hatangi
climate change and sustainability Project Manager

Yves Hatangi worked as head of the plant protection unit at the provincial inspectorate of agriculture, fisheries and livestock in North Kivu. Passionate about environmental issues, he joined the CIFOR and European Union training program for biodiversity management experts at the University of Kisangani. He has managed sustainable and environmentally-friendly agriculture projects, through which many farmers have been trained. A committed researcher, he is preparing a doctorate on the ecology of coffee trees in the Congo Basin at the University of Liège and the University of Kisangani. His work is carried out in partnership with the Jardin botanique de Meise and CIFOR-ICRAF.


Education Developer

Hailing from Southern Chile, Victor has worked around the globe but Africa keeps drawing him back. The logistics are challenging, but the natural beauty and the pureness of the elements are a constant inspiration for him to create. He has spent some years working as a head chef in Virunga National Park in DRC. As an incredible chef he has changed people’s lives running kitchens. He started with AP in 2021 in Garamba National Park in DRC as a consultant Chef and recently in Zakouma National Park(Chad), Garamba and Odzala Kokoua in Congo Brazzaville. Among many projects to help the struggling Congolese he has sponsored over 170 students to help with Education & employment.
